Phosphinite ligand-enabled linear-selective hydroarylation of styrenes under cobalt catalysis

Abstract

A BINOL-based monodentate phosphinite ligand enables linear-selective cobalt-catalyzed hydroarylation of styrenes with aryl imines. The phosphinite moiety and the binaphthyl backbone are both crucial for achieving high linear selectivity. Under the optimized conditions, a range of aryl imines and styrenes undergo hydroarylation to afford the corresponding linear products in moderate to good yields.
